1 Corinthians 13:4-5 (New Living Translation)
“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude…”
Driving by the Bijou Theater marquee sign, it advertised for a comedy show performance by Margaret Cho on Saturday night. Knowing risks I was taking, I prayed. I am aware of her bisexuality and political leanings. Yet, Jesus loves her and died for her just as he loves and died for me!
I was not going to pass out tracts if any of the Westboro Baptist Church idiots were going to be out in full adornment. They were not there to protest, holler, and yell. Thank you, Jesus! Their absence was an answered prayer.
The Lord pressed on my mind to quietly and lovingly pass out gospel tracts, ” on the sidewalk corner across from the theater. Knowing her audience would consist of GBLT persons, if I get into a conversation with anyone attending the show, I would NOT discuss gay issues. The Lord wanted me to give out gospel tracts asking people to put their faith in Jesus. Spurgeon was quoted as saying you will catch more flies with honey rather than vinegar.
There was opportunity to have some small talk with a gay couple. The kindly accepted the gospel tract and told them “God bless.” Reading the Bible, Jesus was very polite and loving with the unsaved. So I just modeled what he did, LOVE ON PEOPLE!
While I never got to personally meet Ms. Cho, I still prayed for those accepting the tracts and Ms. Cho to repent and put their faith in Jesus.
Here is the link for the gospel tract distributed last night:

I have been listening to Greg Laurie radio shows the past several days. He is a Calvary Chapel Evangelist. He has been really focusing on Evangelism in the area of biblical love.
Many perceive Evangelists as harsh and unloving. Looking back in the Gospels we see how Jesus was truthful with those he interacted, yet he was very loving in how he presented the people’s issues or lifestyles. It has been said by one evangelist in the past was when we preach “hell”, we should do it with tears and a cry in our voice.
We must be honest in telling people who if they do not repent and put their faith in Jesus, they will face the wrath of God and be cast into the lake of fire. However, in presenting it to the masses, do it in the way that you do not want to see the masses going to Hell. Woo them away from the impending danger. Warn people(Danger! Danger! Will Robinson!)
Just as you would warn somebody driving down the road and wave them down at the side of the road. Telling them that the bridge is out at the end of the road and if they continued down that direction, they would crash and burn.
One of the ways I have seen the Lord get the attention of the people I encounter is allowing the Holy Spirit to lead the conversation, not my flesh. When we get in the flesh is when the message can get muddled. (God can still use the situation if we mess up.) Yet, when we follow Zechariah 4:6 “Not by might, nor by power, but by MY SPIRIT SAYS THE LORD OF HOSTS” God will be faithful to honor those submitting to his loving and guiding hands.

The evening at the Knox County Detention Center was a tremendous blessing. The Lord allowed me to share with several men the Word of God, spiritual encouragement, and prayer. The Lord laid on my heart to read to many of the men a Psalm from the book of Psalms. I prayed for the Lord to let me read the Psalm which would speak directly to the heart and soul of each man. Many of the men received a New Testament Bible and a new believer took a new believer guidebook in helping him on his Christian walk. I left rejoicing and praising God that men behind bars are more free, by Jesus Christ, than they were on the outside.
Cumberland Strip Evangelism
After leaving the Knoxville Detention Center, the Lord gave me the physical, spiritual, and emotional strength to top off the night by Evangelizing down on the Cumberland Strip. Handfuls of tracts were passed out. I had a variety of tracts from different organizations and businesses. When I finished handing out tracts, I stood on two different street corners and started reading the Bible. After the second place I stood was directly across four bars, a Taco Bell, and a liquor store. One man kept yelling at me as he walked by…..”No one can hear you, no one can hear you!(He was singing the statement over and over.) I called out to him that “Jesus loves him” and “I follow Jesus and not him by obey his Word to publicly proclaim his Word in the streets”.
Another man walked by and in a cadence he was yelling at me to, “Shut Up! Shut Up! Shut Up!” I called back saying, “Jesus Loves you.”
Both men entered the bar of their choice to fill themselves with alcoholic spirits instead of choosing to continue to listen to the Word and be saved and be filled with the Spirit of God.
One incident that shook me as I was walking down the strip was seeing a young person that attended our church. The young person was with a group of friends. They waved and smiled at me as we walked by each other. I gave them a gospel tract created by some Calvary Chapel people. The tract is called “The Man of Salvation”. For some reason seeing this person down near the bar areas concerned me and I quietly prayed for them. I do not know why they were out in the college bar section as I knew they were of high school age.
It brought my attention to see how the men in jail for the crimes they have committed have a more willing ear and broken heart to love of God and the Gospel. The men with a personal walk and repentance in Jesus are truly free.
It also brought my attention to see how people going to bars and elsewhere in public are very closed to the Gospel message. They believe they have found freedom in having the ability to do whatever they desire and with no care for the consequences following feeding on the flesh. Sure, many like the church friend I saw participating in negative worldly activities, may feel that by going to church on a Sunday or any other religious ritual then be able to do whatever their heart desires the rest of the week.
These bar hoping people are not truly free. They are in chains and prisoners to their flesh than those behind jail bars finding true freedom in Jesus Christ. My old worldly days was going to church on Sundays and Wednesdays followed by going to alcohol bars and strip joints on the rest of the week.
God’s Word speaks on having a “fence rider”/”one foot in church the other in the world” mentality.
Luke 16:13 (New King James Version)
13 “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and Mammon.”
Matthew 12:33 (New King James Version)
33 “Either make the tree good and its fruit good, or else make the tree bad and its fruit bad; for a tree is known by its fruit.”

I was on the lookout for a good travel bag to carry gospel tracts, pocket bibles, sermon cd’s, and various Christian resources. At the Goodwill for $2 I found a murse(European side bag for males.) It is a Brookstone name bag.(very expensive if bought at the Brookstone in the mall.) The various compartments can hold a variety shaped gospel tracts. It pays to bargain hunt. Thank you, Lord for finding me an inexpensive murse.
In other evangelism encounters, Downtown, I met a homeless lady near my age. Charleen(not real name.) was five months pregnant and selling flowers she picked to help pay for a room for her husband and herself. I gave her a tract and a dollar for a flower. She asked what church I attended. She was new to the area(one month) and was looking for a solid church. I told her about Calvary Chapel(my church) which was about 3 miles from downtown and gave her directions and the church number to call if they needed a ride. She was hungry as well and I told her about Ms. Maxine that gives away chili dogs for free under the bridge by Barleys(a pizza and pub eatery in the Old City bar district.).
In another evangelism encounter I came across another homeless kid on the UT bar strip. He asked me for one of the tracts. I gave him the Chick tract “Somebody Loves Me.” This tract is a little cartoon about a girl who become homeless after getting kicked out of her home by her alcoholic father. The little girl receives the Gospel on the street and dies from her injuries to be encounter by an angel to be taken into the arms of Jesus.
I carry a variety of Gospel tracts. I always pray before handing out a tract and give a tract that I sense the Holy Spirit would want the receiver of the tract to read. Not all the time am I able to do this type of tract distribution. Some times it is whatever I have in my hand the next person I walk past receives.
To see the murse images go to my Facebook page, Robert Moss in Knoxville, TN.(WordPress isn’t letting me post my cell phone pics to my blog. Will have to figure out how to change format to post later.)

As I returned from Monday night Bible study at church, I had a new packet of the Trillion Dollar Bills.(Lincoln on the front.) I pray for open doors. As I went walking up and down the University of Tennessee strip and passing out the bills, I was stopped by a homeless gay man, Jay.(Not his real name.)
Jay pulled me aside from his friends to talk to me after I gave him a gospel tract. He told me of his gay lover overdosing on drugs and died two weeks ago. Jay was still grieving over the death of his lover. In my heart I prayed for the Holy Spirit to give me the words to say to Jay. Jay told me he was not saved but attends a small Catholic Church. The priest told Jay his lover was in purgatory.
I told Jay purgatory does not exist. I did tell him the story of the Rich man and Lazarus about prior to Jesus where the dead went. Then I told him after Jesus died and arose from the grave things changed. The believers are now with Jesus and the unsaved are still in torment.
Jay asked me to be honest and tell him where his former lover has gone. I told him the Bible does not teach purgatory, only two places people will go once they die, Heaven and Hell. I told him I could only tell him what the Bible says. I told him I am not God and I am not his judge. To comfort Jay, I told him in all honesty that if his former lover called out to Jesus before he took his last breath, then God says according to his Word in
Romans 10:13 (New King James Version)
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
I told Jay to be comforted by what God has said in His Word and not in what man may say. I told him that he needs to call out to Jesus, repent of you sins and put your faith, you whole dependence and surrendering, to Jesus. I then told him John 3:16,17 For God so loved, Jay, that he gave his one and only Son, Jesus. That if Jay believes on him, Jay will not die but have everlasting life. For God came not to Jay to condemn him but that by him Jay may be saved.
I only tell people what God’s Word says. I dare not stand in the way of a man/woman coming to Jesus. Jay was broken. The Lord sent me to Jay to tell him that Jesus loves him. He kept the bible tract. I prayed for him and that tonight, Jay will repent of his sins and put his faith in Jesus.
I told him I’m not here to condemn his gay lifestyle. I am here to tell you that Jesus loves you, died for you and wants to be his Savior.
His drunken friends dragged him away from me. As he walked away from me I called out to him that Jesus loves you and to call on Him and God will save you.
I started to pray immediately for him to repent and be saved. I told Jay during our conversation no matter how much he feels like God will never accept him, that if you(Jay) were the only person on earth, Jesus would still come to the world to die for YOU! You mean that much to him.
I can only trust the seeds planted in Jay will grow and that the devil will not snatch away the seeds. Lord rebuke the enemy off Jay right now so he can repent and put his faith in you, Jesus. Amen.

Here are a list of verses when evangelizing. I am using New King James Version. I attempted to put these in an order of starting with the Ten Commandments(the Law, God’s standard of perfection) showing how the person being evangelized is a sinner by violating God’s standard and will be found guilty on Judgment Day. Then by the Holy Spirit leading them to the Cross and be declared innocent by God(The need for a person to repent and put their faith in Jesus.)
The Ten Commandments
1 And God spoke all these words, saying:
2 “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
3 “You shall have no other gods before Me.
4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; 5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, 6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
7 “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
8 “ Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. 9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 10 but the seventh day isIn it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.
12 “ Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.
13 “You shall not murder.
14 “You shall not commit adultery.
15 “You shall not steal.
16 “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
17 “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.”
24 Therefore the law was our tutor to bring us to Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
12 They have all turned aside;
They have together become unprofitable;
There is none who does good, no, not one
27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
8 But the cowardly, unbelieving,[a] abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.”
15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
12 Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
1 Timothy 2:3-5 (New King James Version)
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth. 5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,
Matthew 4:17 (New King James Version)
17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent(Turning away and not returning to your sins), for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Romans 10:9-10, 13 (New King James Version)
9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”
1 John 1:9
9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
2 Corinthians 5:17
17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Remember to have a balance of Scripture. Don’t leave a person at the Law, follow through to the Cross. Don’t ignore the law/sin issue. The purpose of the Cross was for Jesus to take the guilty status of the sinner upon himself. People need to be aware of the disease(sin) before they take the cure.(Cross). Why should I take a cure if I see no reason to receive the cure? A good doctor tells his patient what is occurring with the patient’s body and after explaining the situation, the doctor will be able to give the cure to the grateful patient. In other words, don’t get the cart before the horse.
Pray to be led by the Holy Spirit in your conversations(Zech. 4:6).
44 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.
It is God doing the work in man, he just allows us to participate in the process. We are the pen in the Lord’s hand, being filled with the ink of the Holy Spirit to spread the word of Jesus to all we come in contact.

I prayed for no rain in the evening around Market Square. My prayer was answered as God held back the rain for me to hand out Gospel tracts. I started on one end of the Square and gave out some tracts. Then I went to the other end of the square and gave out……you guessed it….more tracts. Then proceeding to Gay Street, I did something……wanna guess???? I handed out more tracts.
There will be opportunities to have neat adventure stories. The other times is just planting seeds(tracts) in the soil(people). Did I encounter any demon possessed people? I might have and the demons might have just been mellowed out for the evening and were told by God to give me a break tonight after the car trouble and sickness I have the past few weeks prior. It is nice to be able to have a smooth evening once in a while.
Many of you may be thinking I act like those idiot “sign guys” yelling out at people and just give out judgments without grace and salvation of Jesus. No way indeed. That is not me, and I try to stay away from those guys if I am in the same area sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
In golf, the instructors tell their students to “follow-thru” on their golf swing. If you want to make the golf ball go far, you must do a full swing to allow for maximum impact.
Many of the guys you have seen with the “God hates fags” signs and just give out judgments, do not give a full gospel “follow-thru”. They stop at the judgments on people and entice people into a “legalistic religiosity” which is not “Biblical Christianity.”
As I look how Jesus preached to the masses, He always preached in love while he spoke truth. The only times he got miffed was at the religious leaders for misusing their positions of power to keep people under their thumbs with religious rituals.
I want to mimic my Jesus. I want to share with the world around me(Right now it is Knoxville and to an extent the Internet.) what they must do to be saved from being found guilty under the Ten Commandments and suffer eternal punishment in Hell. It is simply “Repentance(Turning away from selfish evil lifestyles)” and “Faith(trust) in Jesus for their salvation. With God’s help, I treat others with respect and courtesy. It does not mean I water down God’s Word. Biblical love is done truthfully.
I have previously wrote about sign guys. I do not want to lump ALL guys using signs in gospel presentations as bad or non-biblical. Sign people, whose presentations have the complete follow through of the Gospel I respect as brothers and sisters. Follow-thru is very important in Gospel presentations. Without the grace following the law during evangelistic outings, it becomes just as bad as those watering the Word with a feel good message.
So today’s word is: Follow-thru. It makes Gospel presentations clear and effective when done in the power of the Holy Spirit.

First Friday in Downtown Market Square is an event where the art and music lovers convene to display their talent. A group of us from Calvary Chapel and another brother in the Lord went on Friday evening onto Market Square and shared the Gospel message with those we met. We always start in prayer. Never go in our strength and ask God to keep us humble and to speak through us.
We encountered many people. Some were open to listen as we asked them about their spiritual background. Many gave answers such as, “Oh, I’ve been baptized,” “I’m a Catholic/Baptist/Methodist/etc,” “I consider myself a spiritual person.” Yet, being baptized or stating your denomination doesn’t grant you access to Heaven.
The use of different gospel tracts(the good person test, million dollar bill, leaflets, etc) helped open up the conversations into allowing the person to divulge the spiritual or lack thereof background. Many enjoyed the tracts which had a humorous overtones.(The Michael Jackson Million Dollar bill) Breaking the ice with people can disarm any anxiety between the evangelist and the man/woman encountered.
Some of the people we encountered had some Christian background and some had other religious background. The more we found out about an individual, the better we were able to present the Gospel in a way the person could understand.
One lady did call one of the guys ignorant and how we were accosting people out enjoying the evening on the town. This lady did believe it was alright for other people on Market Square to handout other items(business advertisements, food samples, etc), but Christians should not be able to do the same. I guess in her mindset the first amendment to the Constitution does not and should not apply to Christian evangelists.
A group of young people told us the attended Faith Promise. Faith Promise is a Christian Church in Knoxville, TN. They told us they, as individuals, do not believe in sharing their faith in Jesus. They said if people want to hear the Gospel the just need to come to church. Here is the problem with this mindset: In the Bible we see the prophets in the Old Testament openly preached, Jesus openly preached to the crowds, and in the book of Acts the disciples preached to the public. There is an Americanized mindset, which is not biblical, in which the Christian faith should only take place on Sunday morning service by a licensed pastor. Many will not set foot in a church. So in obedience to the Great Commission, We”Go in ALL the World” to preach the Gospel. In other words, God wants us to take the Good News to the public.
We encountered a group of New Age Wicca musicians and dancers. One of the dancers told Pastor Brian she did not like what we were doing and being so narrow minded. The more the drums were beating and the more she danced, the more she was allowing demonic activity to take over her mind and body.
A very upset college-age lady after taking a million dollar bill walked all the way back from Gay Street to Market Square to give us back the bill. She did not like the Gospel message on the tract.
As the night was drawing to a close, we closed in prayer. During the prayer we were interrupted by someone watching us. We asked if they wanted to join us. We asked her and her friends questions, they divulged they were Jehovah Witnesses. Pastor Brian and Tim Weakley were the main speakers while the women would bring up the issues they did and did not believe about God. We avoided getting into a shouting match or going to their level of arrogance. This was a first time during the night, God brought them to us instead of us going to a person or group. We ended on polite terms and did not back down from our beliefs. We gave them props for their cult being so committed to evangelizing their beliefs and how we wished more from our Christian faith would do the same.
We went back to praying without being interrupted and prayed specifically for these women and especially for those which rejected the opportunity to repent of their sins and come to faith in Jesus. It is sad when many in an area known as the “Bible Belt” people trust in their good works, rituals, and attending church on Sunday or a Saturday Mass, as getting into Heaven. They believe in buying off God through these means to get them Heavenly access. This is a slap in the face to God. He sent his only Son, Jesus, to be beaten and killed for the salvation of world. Yet, people would rather trust in their self-righteous religiosity than repent of their sins and put their faith in Jesus.
Isaiah 64:6 (New Living Translation)
6 We are all infected and impure with sin.
When we display our righteous deeds,
they are nothing but filthy rags.
Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall,
and our sins sweep us away like the wind.
I do not go out street preaching to toot off my horn. I honestly want to see many people coming to repentance and faith in Jesus. I know where I have came from and where God had brought me. It would be selfish to keep Jesus to myself. So, I want to share Jesus with as many people. If I am going to spend eternity in Heaven, I want to be able to interact with as many people in Heaven. I love Jesus and I love people. So to really love people, I need to tell them the truth about what occurs in this life, determines what happens after this life ends.

Philemon 1:5-7 (New International Version)
“…because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints. 6I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. 7Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.”
After the Way of the Master class with Tim Weakly, I took the million dollar bills given by Tim. I gave some to a gas station attendant, fast food employees, individuals, and college students. The following is a snippet of the interactions during the handing out of the million dollar tract.
When you are by yourself and walking along, you have less than three seconds for the exchange. Some of the places downtown I gave some away was Market Square, the escalator by the theater(I went up and down it several times and gave the bill to people going the opposite way of me.), people standing in movie ticket line, one fun incident was on the UT strip(college bar and restaurant area). At a stop light a big long black limo was carrying a group of college kids. They hollered at me while I walking. This was my Holy Spirit cue to approach the limo and handed about a dozen bills to the occupants in the limo. On the opposite corner was one of the public transit buses. The driver had her window rolled down and I told her, “Here is a tip for all you hard work.” She gave a smile and a laugh. This bus driver needed a good laugh especially dealing with some of the crazies riding her bus. On my way back to my car, I came upon a small group of college kids and all of them took a bill.
Saving souls at a the Collective Soul concert at the Tennessee Theater: Yes, as people were waiting to get in the Tennessee Theater, I started handing out the Million Dollar tracts. Question is for the attendees: Who is going to “collect their soul”?
I only came across one bill thrown on the ground.(after handing out about 75 bill tracks.) Of course, a few refuse to take a bill. Remember Mark Cahill says, “A no rejection is a win-win situation.” No matter what occurs, if done in biblical love is still obeying the Great Commission. Your reward in Heaven will be great.
Luke 6:23 (New Living Translation)
“When that happens, be happy! Yes, leap for joy! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, their ancestors treated the ancient prophets that same way.”
Matthew 5:12 (New Living Translation)
“Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.”
I do recommend if you go out street witnessing, take someone with you. Now if you cannot get anyone to go with you, then use wisdom and discernment. Always pray before and after street witnessing. Remember to be led by the Holy Spirit and not in your strength. (Zech. 4:6).
Towards the latter part of the evening, I came upon a black gospel music performance in Market Square. When one of the organizers asked what I was doing. He offered and I accepted prayer over me for boldness in witnessing. This guy’s name was Robert.(not ironic, but a God-sent conformation.) He was an on-fire brother in Christ. Covered in tattoos and looked like a bouncer. God definitely used him to help and encourage me. Many times in street witnessing, you need an encourager. It was much needed for the rest of the night. He wanted info about my church. I gave him a business card and the group of people with him each got a million dollar tract. Hopefully, the bill tracts will encourage them to boldly share Jesus with people.

1 Corinthians 13:1 (New Living Translation)
1″ If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn’t love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal.”
I want to make perfectly clear, as to not be misidentified, I am not one of those “Sign Guys”. You know, these guys:
These groups and individuals do not represent Bible believing Christians. They fly in the face of the 1 Corinthians 13:1 . Unfortuantely, many of us get accidently lumped with these people. They do not represent the Christian faith. They are a cult of so called self-righteous hyper-Calvinists.(They misrepresent Christians which ascribe to Reformed theology .) Now I don’t ascribe to Reformed theology. However, I will stand with my brothers in the Lord of the Reformed mindset when the idots and cults like the Fred Phelps family, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fred_phelps, identify themselves in the same brand. The Sign guys/Fred Phelps family do not represent the Reformed theology.
When you look through the book of Acts, the disciples do open-air preaching.( Example: Acts 2:14-41) Peter DIDN”T hold signs stating, “God hates Jews.” He was openly preaching by the power of God through the Holy Spirit. He took people through God’s Word and taught them. He explained to them what they did and how God used the actions they commited to glorify Jesus.
There is a difference in biblically explaining to someone they are not perfect and are in need of a Savior; and someone verbally or visually berating and belittling a group or individual telling them they have no hope.
Throughout the entire Gospel, Jesus loved the people. He was able to point out the areas in people’s lives which broke their relationship with God, then provided means to restore the broken relationship with the people to God. He gave grace to the humble and the law to the proud.(James 4:6, 1 Peter 5:5) Like a doctor, if he is a good doctor, will point out to the patient about the cancer in his body. Only then will the patient be open to cure. Another example, it is a dark and stormy night, I see a bridge washed away by a raging river. If I see a car coming, I must do whatever means possible to tell the people in the car to not go forward or risked being killed. Jesus does the same and gives all believers the command to Go preach the Gospel.(Mark 16:14-16)
There is a biblical way of proclaiming the Word of God and then there are wolves in sheep’s clothing misquoting and misrepresenting the name of Jesus. One organization has been teaching for several years how to biblically proclaim God’s Word in public. Their website is http://www.wayofthemaster.com/ They train Christians how to be evangelists and proclaimers of the Great Commission.
I hope this helps from not throwing those of us wanting to be biblically sound with those “sign guys”.
