With Spring upon us and this being Easter weekend, I am excited at the awesome Gospel door openings God allowed on this Good Friday. I always pray up and let the Holy Spirit fill me up before any Evangelistic opportunities.  Thank you Jesus for the wonderful weather.

On this Easter weekend was also First Friday in downtown Knoxville. However, prior to going down to Market Square for First Friday, I went on the UT strip and handed out Gospel Tracts. After a quick lunch at Krystal, I proceeded to Downtown to meet up with Jim Shannon(Another Calvary Chapel Knoxville attendee.) to pass out tracts on Market Square and Gay Street.

The tracts I used were from Carl Kalbfleisch from http://www.bezeugen.org .   Two of the tracts used had an Easter theme. The other tract was geared towards those inclined to the New Age movement.(The COEXIST tract.)

First Friday in Downtown Knoxville is a monthly event where the artsy people show off their art work and musicians play out in the open. On top of this going on downtown, An ecumenical “Stations of the Cross” services was being conducted.  These two events on a sunny day was an open door to spread the Gospel. Thank you, Jesus for the great open doors in Knoxville.

I estimated Jim and I confronted over 10o persons with a Gospel tract. One little boy came up to us and wanted one each of the different tracts we possessed.

One young college age man was given a tract. He had a bottle of beer in his other hand. He was a little buzzed.  A few moments later he returned to give us back the tract. He said he was a Christian. Yet, he was scared and apologized to us for drinking. His conscience was working overtime on him. He asked us about if drinking was a sin. We told him what the bible says about drunkenness. He gave us back the tract. Five minutes passed and he came back to us asking for the tract back. This was a first for me to have someone ask for a tract back that he returned to us after giving it to him in the first place. We told him he was invited to attend Easter service at the Bijou Theater this Sunday at 10 a.m.(Anyone reading this in driving distance is invited as well.) We prayed for this man Salvation and Repentance.

Those in attendance for the Stations of the Cross services in Market Square were walking from each station in a dead religious shuffle. God started to work in me to bring joy to these people of the power of the resurrected Jesus to enter their lives. I handed as many tracts to these gloomy people. They needed the love and JOYFUL power of Jesus in their lives.  Jesus is ALIVE! He has overcome the grave. The people need to know this fact. The Catholic priests conducting the service gave me the impression of dead religion, not the powerful relationship God wants to bring to the people.

I look forward in the next couple of hours for God to guide me to share the Gospel with the college kids heading to the bars to drink and party.  I love Jesus and I love people so much I want to tell them of the love of Jesus through his death, burial, and resurrection. People need faith in Jesus with godly sorrow(repentance) to escape the wrath of God and enter into Heaven.

Pray for me. Pray for those I share the Gospel. I want to remain humble, flexible and always go in the power of the Holy Spirit in being an Evangelist. Pray for me and hopefully God will provide the opportunity for me to be a full-time preacher. I am not fully satisfied unless I am proclaiming my faith in Jesus and sharing God’s Word to a dying world. If God wills, I want to be a full-time preacher/teacher.  This goes beyond feeling called, I know within my heart, mind, soul, and spirit that God has called me to the ministry. Ever since in July of 1996, when I talked back home in Carl Junction to my then pastor, Bob Simon that I believed God has called me to the ministry. Like Joseph and the dream God gave him and how long it took God to shape Joseph for his calling, God has shaped me and is continuing to shape me to be molded in his image. I have prayed to God if there is any other career he wants me to be in besides in the ministry, He needs to make it clear as day. So far nothing else is going to bring me the satisfaction as my calling to be in the ministry and telling others about the redemption of their lives through Jesus Christ.

Happy Easter everyone!

Proverbs 16:9 (New King James Version)

A man’s heart plans his way, but the LORD directs his steps.

I had a blessed time with family and friends during my annual Christmas visit. Despite the snow, getting bumped and delayed on buses going home,   sick people, a water heater going wacko, and  a screw in my dad’s truck tire;  the Lord had his hand in directing me to the people needing a word of encouragement and a gospel tract.

God used these situations to lead me to the people needing to receive a gospel tract and/or encouragement.  I prayed for God to go before me in any encounter during the trip and in the Joplin area.  Several people at the various Greyhound bus stations picked up the Santa Million Dollar bill or the little bible book(a quarter size tract with various bible scriptures with an opportunity to repent and put their faith in Jesus.)

The mall evangelistic outreach was me. The snow on Christmas bumped people to reschedule their Christmas on the weekend. Others had the flu. Mom and dad had to babysit a water heater til a repairman came to the house.

So, it was Monday morning when the roads were safely cleared to do the outreach. I almost did not get to go out to the mall after taking my dad’s truck to the tire shop. He had a screw in a tire which was slowly going flat.(At the tire shop, I met a Christian family. The father and I started talking and it was an encouragement to me during my time at the tire shop.  I left a gospel tract in the waiting area.)

Went to a bank to cash some Christmas moola and gave the bank tellers some Santa Million Dollar Bills.  Left on the table a million dollar bill at a fast food burger eatery.   Then FINALLY, I was off to the mall….AGAIN.

I prayed for the mall cops at Northpark Mall to be blind to the evangelistic outreach.(Never fun to have the mall cops(i.e. Paul Blarts) tell you to stop or throw away any tracts.) I was able to give out some Million Dollar Bills to mall shoppers.(This includes both those I did not know personally and those I did know personally.)   I made sure every chair and bench in the mall had a gospel tract. I returned to some of the benches and put out more tracts that the previous tract was in the hands of a mall shopper. I did the fish feeding of dropping the million dollar bill on the ground and stand to the side watching shoppers picking up the bill.

The Lord gave me opportunities to talk with friends receiving the tracts. One of them actually thanked me and gave me a hug for giving them the “little bible” gospel tract. When you witness to friends, I did have the butterflies in the stomach more than I would a total stranger. There were at times I was hesitant giving a tract to acquaintances, yet the Lord gave me strength to overcome the apprehension .

I probably spent about two hours at the mall before heading out. As I was leaving, I just prayed and thanked God for the opportunity to share my faith at the mall.  I hope many put their faith in Jesus. Yet, I was not done…….

It was off  to Books-A-Million……(Thank you to Tony Miano for posting on his blog about book stuffing.) The bookstore is half the size  of the one in Knoxville.  Many popular titles and especially the Joel Osteen(Ostink) books received a free bookmark.  I was able to make it over to the New Age and Witchcraft section and went to town with the Santa bills.

On the ride back to Knoxville, I was able to give out some of the bills, the new year’s resolution tracts, and the little bible ministry tracts to lots of people at the greyhound locations and on the buses.

The last bus taking me back to Knoxville was the most fruitful. After several of us got tired of hearing a man snore very, very, very, VERY loudly in the back of the bus, we moved to the front after many got off the bus at a stop en route to Knoxville.  Who would have thought this snoring man gave me the opportunity to be reseated around both Christians and non-Christians.  Those around me were interested in the gospel tracts. So many of them were given several to share with their family and friends. A lady old enough to be my mother  was sitting next to me.  She shared with me of  her life and being remarried and having children and grandchildren.  We got to the stop for our lunch break. She only had about sixty-five cents. I ended up buying her lunch and gave her a “little bible” gospel tract.(It had a happy face with “Jesus loves you” on the front and had the scripture explaining about what it means to repent and put her faith in Jesus. ) From the discussion I had with her, I could tell she had some spiritual background, but unsure if she was saved. So instead of automatically assuming she was a Christian, I still gave her a tract.  The bus stopped at Knoxville and everyone either got on another bus or Knoxville was their last stop. Once we got off the bus, she gave me a hug and thanked me for the lunch and the gospel tract. I was definitely thanking the Lord for this encounter with this lady and pray for her salvation or strengthened her faith if she was a Christian.

So after I got back to the house and showered, I went to evening services at Calvary Chapel Knoxville. I was able to tell those about my adventures in witnessing encounters.

EXTRA: I was able to see my church family at Calvary Chapel Joplin. I gave the gospel tracts, “The Man of Salvation”  to the prison ministry guy at CC Joplin, Ron Wright.  Some will be given to the CC Joplin Saturday Evangelism team and potentially in the prison outreach after approval from the organization. He works with the organization, “Bill Glass Champions for Life”. Once they review the tract, Bill Glass may be potentially using “The Man of Salvation”  So pray for this gospel tract to be used to the glory of God. It give scripture, why you need to be saved, repentance, and faith in Jesus. (all using the name of Jesus in an acrostic fashion) If you are interested in purchasing a pack of  “The Man of Salvation” please contact Calvary Chapel Knoxville at 865-609-1385 (phone), (web)  http://www.calvaryknoxville.org/ , (mail) 2864 Alcoa Hwy, Knoxville TN 37920, (email) knoxville@calvarychapel.com

E-Team during the Holidays

December 21, 2009

A-Team becomes the E-Team

From A-Team to E-Team

Ephesians 6:12-20 (New King James Version)

12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

While you may not be armed with guns and neck chains  like Mr. T. and the A-Team, you are armed with the weapons of spiritual warfare.

The E-Team has formed in Southwest Missouri.(Still accepting Christian believers to join. Those of you around the country, especially the Way of the Master people, pray for this group. WOTM people you are apart of the SW Missouri team in Spirit through your prayers.)

I will be leaving tomorrow. One day on the bus, then I arrive in Joplin, Missouri in the morning. I am so excited to see family. It has been last Christmas since returning home. It will be a blessing to see family and friends. More exciting, God has allowed me to join with others in Southwest Missouri to share our faith(evangelizing) in Jesus.

Doing evangelism back home comes with different scenarios than in Knoxville.  Evangelizing in my hometown, I will share my faith with those I know more personally than the three years I have lived in Knoxville.  Joplin-area is quite smaller than Knoxville. I am not intimidated by the fact of  being potentially being rejected by acquaintances.(It is not me or anyone on the Evangelism team being rejected but many will reject the salvation message of  Jesus and Him Crucified.) I am just an instrument in the Lord’s hand.  Places to evangelize are smaller and limited than Knoxville.(Yet,  everyone in all areas, both small and large, need the message of Jesus saving them from their destructive paths.)

If you share your faith in Jesus, prepare to be rejected. If it happened to God and the men  he used in the Bible,  we should expect the same to us.(I Samuel 8:7 is a great example of people rejecting God as their King.) We will get caught in the crossfire due to being the messengers.   We should not be afraid of rejection. Evil man can only do so much to us.

Matthew 10:27-28, 32 (New King James Version)

27 “Whatever I tell you in the dark, speak in the light; and what you hear in the ear, preach on the housetops. 28 And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

32 “Therefore whoever confesses Me before men, him I will also confess before My Father who is in heaven. 33 But whoever denies Me before men, him I will also deny before My Father who is in heaven.

This verse in an encouragement to the believer sharing their faith.

Merry Christmas to all. Remember the greatest gift you can receive, if you are not a Christian, is accepting  Jesus as your Savior. Just turn away from you selfish lifestyles and put your trust in the truth of Jesus Christ.

Ezekiel 3:17-18 (New Living Translation)

“Son of man, I have appointed you as a watchman for Israel. Whenever you receive a message from me, warn people immediately.  If I warn the wicked, saying, ‘You are under the penalty of death,’ but you fail to deliver the warning, they will die in their sins. And I will hold you responsible for their deaths.”

Black Friday Evangelizing

I admit it was crazy to get on the road and to the mall on Black Friday.  Yet, after prayer and a morning devotional in the book of Psalms, I pressed onward.  I always start with prayer prior to evangelizing.  Ended up parking way out in “No-man’s Land” I did a one  package(100 count) test run of the Santa Million Dollar Bills.

SIDENOTE: With the Supreme Court cases like Pruneyard, I could walk in freely and talk to anyone. I cannot just go up and start handing out tracts without catching the attention of the mall cops(Paul Blarts’). Thank the Lord, he blinded the eyes to the mall cops in my general surroundings.

So tract distribution has a different approach than outdoor public venues.  1. Talk first, then give tract. 2. Conventionally place tracts in public eye.(drop a bill, bill in coke machine dollar slot, on a bench, chair, food court table, on top of the hand dryer in the bathroom, and etc.)

The mall was packed like sardines and people were rushing as fast as they could to get the next deal in each store. The only ones really interested in talking were the elderly sitting on benches watching people shop.  So one of my methods in the mall during busy traffic times is to quickly drop a bill on the walkway. Then I watch a few feet away while someone takes the bait(Thus, many in evangelist call evangelism, street fishing. )

I drop my first bill. I wait and wait…..wait some more…..then trusting God, I walk on knowing someone will pick up the bill.(Even if it is the Environmental Services, i.e. maintenance.)  I head to the inside entrance of JC Penny and drop a bill. Within minutes someone picks it up.(Walked away and came back and noticed the bill was gone.)  I stick a Santa buck in the Coke machine slot and a teen takes the bill.

I do this method of bill dropping on the ground for a few rounds around the mall. One instance, a lady picks up the bill and very loudly reads it to her shopping party and those in earshot.(One bill= five listeners)

The next few rounds, I target empty benches and chairs. Black Friday shoppers need a sit down break. So watching many shoppers read the bill on the bench. Some take the bill with them, others leave it for others to read. I had one elementary school girl give me my bill I dropped. She thought I did it on accident. I told her to keep the bill.

It was getting close to lunch, so I go where most hungry shoppers congregate….the food court. Santa bills in the food court go like hotcakes. The first one in the food court to grab a Santa bill tract was a  chocolate candy sample guy.  He started reading it to his coworker handing out the chocolate kisses.(Yes, I found all the chocolate candy people and they gave me candy samples. I was able to hand a Santa bill to one of the sample candy people.)  At empty tables, I left a Santa bill.

I had  one person walk up to me, thinking I accidentally dropped the bill. I did tell her thank you. So, I found a new home in the food court for the bill.  After leaving the food court, I started to return to my car. HOWEVER, God gave me the nudge to the best place to get the most readability out of the Santa tract. I walked around the area where the Mall Santa  was sitting. There were benches galore around the area.(They each got a Santa tract. Some more than once after a person decided to keep the tract.) There was a line to see Santa, so I did give out a few Santa bills to some children after I got permission from the parents.

I dropped one Santa bill in the hallway of JC Penny leading to the bathrooms. I walked a few feet away and saw a man sitting on the ground waiting on his wife in the bathroom. Apparently, she took awhile because he picked the tract I dropped and read the message. He put the tract back on the ground and  with a worried look kept rubbing his forehead and staring at the tract. I quietly prayed for him as the message was taking root in his spirit.

I still had some Santa bills left as well as some various other tracts in my possession. I had the rest of the day free so I pressed on with the evangelism.

God blessed me with the Black Friday mall shoppers, so I prayed and asked if he grant me favor to go across the street to Boarders bookstore and place some free bookmarks(tracts) in some popular reading materials. He gave me the green light.( I have learned to pray first and let the Lord go before me.) Books are popular Christmas gifts. (So why not give some food for thought when it comes to reading you favorite book?)  Most all  fiction books have some religious references scattered throughout the pages. So why not give the real Christian message to the religious ideals in fiction books.

Some popular books and authors got my tract approval(Or disapproval pending on how you look at it.) One popular book among teens and the goth crowds is the Twilight series. I noticed the majority of teen fiction books had some occultist or dark themes.(Vampires, witches, etc.)   I went to the classic section and did more bookmark placements. One of the positives of having a mother teaching me to read at a early age  and taking  American Literature class in college was to recall popular titles. Some classics which got tractd’  was “1984” and  “Count of Monte Cristo.”   I stuffed any book with the Oprah selection sticker.

I did go to the  Christian non-fiction section. Most of all the “Faith” teachers got my tract. Also in the tract stuffing was Rick Warren and Joel Ostink( I meant Osteen. Heh! Heh!)

I ended up in my car praying for the seeds planted at the mall and bookstore.(I have made it a habit of beginning and ending in prayer when Street Fishing.)

I went home for a brief break.(I.E. Eating Thanksgiving leftovers. Yummy!)

Market Square Christmas Festival Kickoff

I arrived early and was able to secure a parking space next to Market Square.  I grabbed  twenty Billy Graham Decision magazines and my satchel containing a variety of tracts.(This is one of the handbags given to me by my mother’s prayer group. If a woman is in possession of the handbag, it is called a handbag. If a man is in possession of it, it is called a satchel. Enough said.)

I  placed a  dozen Decision magazine on all the benches in Market Square. The rest  of the magazines I gave out to the public.

I walked around and handed out the last 25 Santa bills.  I switched to a stack of Michael Jackson Million Dollar bills and various business card style tracts.  During the duration of my time in the downtown area, I walked around handing out the tracts saying, “Merry Christmas” or “Here is a million dollar bill for you”. I had several ask me what the reason for giving them out. I told them there was a gospel message on the back of the bill or tract. I did get rejected a few times.(The times I did was when I said “Here is a million dollar bill for you”. Saying, “Merry Christmas” almost guaranteed the person taking the tract.

The only two times I said, “Merry Christmas ” the tract was rejected. One by a girl who threw the tract in the trash and another by a man asking why I was giving the tract. He thought I was giving a business flyer and promptly walked away after I told him about the gospel message on the tract.  I felt the prompting of the Holy Spirit to pray for him.  I always pray for all the tracts I give out to have a positive effect. Yet, sometimes, God leads me to pray for certain individuals receiving a tract.

I did receive some positive and much-needed encouragement from Christians in Market Square. I only hope it is reciprocal and they are encouraged to share Jesus.  One of my consistent Market Square Christian encouragers is a street musician, James. From talking to him, he has the fruit of a believer. He earns most of his money by playing his wooden flute in the downtown area. He helps me in handing out tracts. When a person drops a dollar in his hopper, he thanks them and gives them one of the tracts.  If people stick around and visit with him, he starts sharing the Gospel with them.

I do find enjoyment from serving Jesus in this capacity. As time passes, I hope the Lord keeps giving me opportunities to evangelize.  When the Lord gives you the opportunity to serve him, do it.   I always want to make myself available to serve the Lord. If I could evangelize full-time, knowing my daily needs would be met, I would do it in a heartbeat.

I want to leave you with a quote from the Prince of Preachers, Charles Spurgeon. There are many biblical ways to evangelize. Spurgeon has a way with words on strategy.

“All men are not to be reached in the same way, we must be wise to win souls, wise
with wisdom from above. We desire to see them conquered for Christ, but no warrior
uses always the same strategy; there is one for open assault, for another a siege, for
a third an ambush, for a fourth a long campaign.”

After a long nap and feeling tons better.(The getting sick was definitely spiritual warfare.) I grabbed some Million Dollar Bills and headed for the University of Tennessee Strip.(Bar and restaurant area on Cumberland).

I always begin and end in prayer when I go out to fish(street witness).  It is the power of the Holy Spirit which gives me the ability to share Jesus with people.

The Strip was jammed packed with college students and Knoxville police.  Some people took bills, others refused, and many came up to me asking for them. It is refreshing to me when people come up to you asking for the Million Dollar Bill tract.

Some officers called out to me curious to what I was passing out.  I gave the gospel presentation to a group of six officers. Whoot! After the gospel presentation, they told me if I encountered any problems to get their attention.

This night was even more exciting as I was able to attain the attention of several groups of college students. Most take the bill and go on their way. Yet, God gave me more time with the groups and individuals to proceed with the Million Dollar question. (Are you going to Heaven?)

One instance where I was able to ask the question and get at least a 3 minute conversation with a young man.  He confessed he had not been to church in a while and the church he admitted to attending was one down the road from my church.  He was a little tipsy and from the looks of the group he was in attendance was not a group I suspected he  did not really fit in. As his group was dragging him away, I encouraged him to read the back of the bill, read his Bible, and get back to church as soon as possible. After he left, I said a small prayer for this young man.

It is very disappointing to see many young people make the same choices I made in the past. I used to both go to the bar on Saturday night and attend church the next morning.  The bars provide students with unrealistic pleasure which go against the Word of God. The hopes of seeing scantily dressed women show off their hooters after drinking too much was a draw for me to go to bars. Yet, I knew the Bible had clear warning from participating in events at the bars.(wet-t-shirt contests, etc). It took some tough situations for me to experience to know God has better plans for me than what I tried to gain at bars.  I eventually came to repentance and faith in the Lord during this time. Now, I want to be able to reach the college students for the Lord. Many times it means going where the college student goes on nights( bars, waffle house, football games, etc).

I know there are mothers, fathers, grandparents, pastors, and church people praying for there prodigal children.  I wonder at times, if many of these praying people are asking God for someone like myself to encounter their child in these situations?

Here is a Chick tract  which gives a story about many of the situations I encounter at the bar district.

http://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/0099/0099_01.asp

Many think I am hokie  for  street witnessing.(Actually, a Hokie is who you are if you attend Virgina Tech.) People can think whatever or discourage me from street witnessing.  I must be faithful to God and his words, “Go into ALL the world…”, Right now my world is Knoxville, Tennessee.  I must obey God rather than the idle threats of man.

The Lord gave me a little over an hour to hand out Billy Graham “Decision” magazines and some Million Dollar Bills on Market Square. I prayed for people to not mistake me for a Jehovah Witness handing out “Watchtower” magazines.  I gave away all my stack of “Decision” magazines(about 25 copies.)  No one really stuck around to talk or return to ask me questions. I don’t make an effort to make notches on my belt for new converts.  God gives me the opportunity to do spiritual “tilling” of the market square “garden”.

I remember as a young teen during the springtime, dad would get out the rototiller and break up the rocky ground in our backyard to plant a garden.  As my dad would till the ground, my brother and I would have to grab the big rocks out of the garden. For vegetables to grow properly, you have to breakup the stony ground. The same applies to evangelism.

1 Corinthians 3:6-9 (New Living Translation)

“6 I planted the seed in your hearts, and Apollos watered it, but it was God who made it grow. 7 It’s not important who does the planting, or who does the watering. What’s important is that God makes the seed grow. 8 The one who plants and the one who waters work together with the same purpose. And both will be rewarded for their own hard work. 9 For we are both God’s workers. And you are God’s field. You are God’s building.”

As I was leaving Market Square, it started to rain. This is a great reminder to me. God let me plant some seeds and God watered the seeds. Pray for the spiritual fruit to grow and blossom.

Revelation 3:16 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

“So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I am going to vomit you out of My mouth.”

Now you may ask, “Where does the vomit play into street witnessing?”  The next morning I woke up with a headache. I still went to the morning street evangelism class at Calvary Baptist Student Center. My headache proceeded to get worse. The moment I entered my car is the moment I stuck my head out of the car and returned the pancakes and sausage onto the ground.  Gross, T.M.I., Robert.

I need to bring this up(oops. Sorry again.) to tell you  the Christian walk is not all rosy. When you give your life to Jesus in Christian service, expect to be attacked by the enemy.  I have become temporarily ill the past few times I go out and witness to people, experienced car problems,  and encountered spiritual warfare in various others means.

I know it is not the flu or something I ate to make me sick, the past other times I got this sick was when it involved street witnessing. You may say to me, “Use Germ-X.” It may sound like a good precaution, yet if Satan and his demons want to fight back, they will use any method to discourage or stop the witnessing. I am not going to stop sharing about my Jesus.  I am thankful God allows me to evangelize to people.  It humbles me he wants to use me to glorify Him.

Ephesians 6:12 (New Living Translation)

“12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.”

God calls all believers to evangelize(verb). You may not be led to be an Evangelist(noun) like Billy Graham. Yet Jesus give ALL believers this command:

Mark 16:15 (New Living Translation)

“And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”

God may protect you from puking your guts up after sharing your faith, then again he may allow it. I just ask you if you are willing to share your faith are you willing to potentially endure more than just being temporarily ill. You may be thrown in jail as a result of false accusations(I’ve had this happened to me.), Spit upon, verbally abused, and especially if you are in a hostile country to Christianity: murdered.  It is a privilege to bring the Good news of Repentance and faith Jesus. Are you ready?

Philemon 1:5-7 (New International Version)

“…because I hear about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints. 6I pray that you may be active in sharing your faith, so that you will have a full understanding of every good thing we have in Christ. 7Your love has given me great joy and encouragement, because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.”

After the Way of the Master class with Tim Weakly, I took the million dollar bills given by Tim.  I gave some to a gas station attendant, fast food employees, individuals, and college students. The following  is a snippet of the interactions during the handing out of the million dollar tract.

When you are by yourself and walking along, you have less than three seconds for the exchange. Some of the places downtown I gave some away was Market Square, the escalator by the theater(I went up and down it several times and gave the bill to people going the opposite way of me.), people standing in movie ticket line, one fun incident was on the UT strip(college bar and restaurant area). At a stop light a big long black limo was carrying a group of college kids. They hollered at me while I walking. This was my Holy Spirit cue to approach the limo and handed about a dozen bills to the occupants in the limo. On the opposite corner was one of the public transit buses. The driver had her window rolled down and I told her, “Here is a tip for all you hard work.” She gave a smile and a laugh. This bus driver needed a good laugh especially dealing with some of the crazies riding her bus. On my way back to my car, I came upon a small group of college kids and all of them took a bill.

Saving souls at a the Collective Soul concert at the Tennessee Theater: Yes, as people were waiting to get in the Tennessee Theater, I started handing out the Million Dollar tracts.  Question is for the attendees: Who is going to “collect their soul”?

I only came across one bill thrown on the ground.(after handing out about 75 bill tracks.) Of course, a few refuse to take a bill. Remember Mark Cahill says, “A  no rejection is a win-win situation.” No matter what occurs, if done in biblical love is still obeying the Great Commission. Your reward in Heaven will be great.

Luke 6:23 (New Living Translation)

When that happens, be happy! Yes, leap for joy! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, their ancestors treated the ancient prophets that same way.”

Matthew 5:12 (New Living Translation)

Be happy about it! Be very glad! For a great reward awaits you in heaven. And remember, the ancient prophets were persecuted in the same way.”

I do recommend if you go out street witnessing, take someone with you. Now if you cannot get anyone to go with you, then use wisdom and discernment.  Always pray before and after street witnessing. Remember to be led by the Holy Spirit and not in your strength. (Zech. 4:6).

Towards the latter part of the evening,  I came upon a black gospel music performance in Market Square. When one of the organizers asked what I was doing. He offered and I accepted prayer over me for boldness in witnessing. This guy’s name was Robert.(not ironic, but a God-sent conformation.) He was an on-fire brother in Christ. Covered in tattoos and looked like a bouncer. God definitely used him to help and encourage me. Many times in street witnessing, you need an encourager. It was much needed for the rest of the night.  He wanted info about my church. I gave him a business card and the group of people with him each got a million dollar tract. Hopefully, the bill tracts will encourage them to boldly share Jesus with people.
