2 Timothy 4:3 (New Living Translation)
“For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear.”
” Neo-Christianity, which seems for the time to be the most popular(and is certainly the most aggressive), is very careful not to oppose sin. It wins its crowds by amusing them and its converts by hiding from them the full implications of the Christian message. It carries on it projects after the ballyhoo methods of American business.” – A.W. Tozer from “The Next Chapter after the Last, p. 18.
” The feeling that we got to make converts at any cost has greatly wounded the Church of Christ. We must present the truth as we are told to present it and let the Holy Ghost(Spirit) work and the individual man decide whether he will accept it or not. This soft, pussy idea that in order to keep people coming and giving and filling the seats we don’t dare in any wise offend them, and we’ve got to make everything smooth and soft, is not New Testament.” -A.W. Tozer from sermon, “This I Believe,” 1969.
“The temptation to modify the teaching of Christ with the hope that larger numbers may ‘accept’ Him is cruelly strong in this day of speed, size, noise, and crowds. But if we know what is good for us, we’ll resist it with every power at our command. To yield can only result in a weak and ineffective Christianity in this generation, and death and desolation in the next.”- A.W. Tozer from the “The Size of the Soul”, p. 119.
“The crowds-at-any-price mania has taken a firm grip on American Christianity and is the motivating power back of shockingly high percentage of all religious activity. Men and churches compete for the attention of the paying multitudes who are brought in by means of any currently popular gadget or gimmick ostensibly to have their souls saved, but , if the truth were told, often for reasons not so praiseworthy as this.” A. W. Tozer from “The Size of the Soul”, p. 117.
The liberal humanistic pervasiveness via the Emergent Churches and many of the mainline denominations has taken hold. They exalt man, and push down God. They water down the Gospel to bring in more people to their churches. They substitute pagan rituals over relationship and holiness to the Lord.
1 Kings 18:20-40 (New Living Translation)
“20 So Ahab summoned all the people of Israel and the prophets to Mount Carmel. 21 Then Elijah stood in front of them and said, “How much longer will you waver, hobbling between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow him! But if Baal is God, then follow him!” But the people were completely silent.
22 Then Elijah said to them, “I am the only prophet of the Lord who is left, but Baal has 450 prophets. 23 Now bring two bulls. The prophets of Baal may choose whichever one they wish and cut it into pieces and lay it on the wood of their altar, but without setting fire to it. I will prepare the other bull and lay it on the wood on the altar, but not set fire to it. 24 Then call on the name of your god, and I will call on the name of the Lord. The god who answers by setting fire to the wood is the true God!” And all the people agreed.
25 Then Elijah said to the prophets of Baal, “You go first, for there are many of you. Choose one of the bulls, and prepare it and call on the name of your god. But do not set fire to the wood.”
26 So they prepared one of the bulls and placed it on the altar. Then they called on the name of Baal from morning until noontime, shouting, “O Baal, answer us!” But there was no reply of any kind. Then they danced, hobbling around the altar they had made.
27 About noontime Elijah began mocking them. “You’ll have to shout louder,” he scoffed, “for surely he is a god! Perhaps he is daydreaming, or is relieving himself. Or maybe he is away on a trip, or is asleep and needs to be wakened!”
28 So they shouted louder, and following their normal custom, they cut themselves with knives and swords until the blood gushed out. 29 They raved all afternoon until the time of the evening sacrifice, but still there was no sound, no reply, no response.
30 Then Elijah called to the people, “Come over here!” They all crowded around him as he repaired the altar of the Lord31 He took twelve stones, one to represent each of the tribes of Israel, 32 and he used the stones to rebuild the altar in the name of the Lord. Then he dug a trench around the altar large enough to hold about three gallons. 33 He piled wood on the altar, cut the bull into pieces, and laid the pieces on the wood. that had been torn down.
Then he said, “Fill four large jars with water, and pour the water over the offering and the wood.”
34 After they had done this, he said, “Do the same thing again!” And when they were finished, he said, “Now do it a third time!” So they did as he said, 35 and the water ran around the altar and even filled the trench.
36 At the usual time for offering the evening sacrifice, Elijah the prophet walked up to the altar and prayed, “O Lord, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, prove today that you are God in Israel and that I am your servant. Prove that I have done all this at your command. 37 O Lord, answer me! Answer me so these people will know that you, O Lord, are God and that you have brought them back to yourself.”
38 Immediately the fire of the Lord flashed down from heaven and burned up the young bull, the wood, the stones, and the dust. It even licked up all the water in the trench! 39 And when all the people saw it, they fell face down on the ground and cried out, “The Lord—he is God! Yes, the Lord is God!”
40 Then Elijah commanded, “Seize all the prophets of Baal. Don’t let a single one escape!” So the people seized them all, and Elijah took them down to the Kishon Valley and killed them there.
A church is not a church just because of a fancy title, fancy music, and bells and whistles. Seek the Lord and His Word when looking for a fellowship of believers.

2 Corinthians 5:20 (New Living Translation)
So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!
If you want to see sinners repent and place their faith in Jesus, then we need to bring the church to the sinner. Many in the church have it backwards, build a church and the sinner attend. It may happen. Yet according to the Great Commission, we are told by Jesus to “Go into the world.”
If you are a Christian believer, then you are commanded by Christ to share the Good News of Jesus Christ to all people. 155,000 people die each day. Many without repenting and placing their faith in Jesus. What are you doing about it? You may say….”I leave it to the preacher and those called to evangelism.” However, the commandment Jesus gave before ascending into Heaven was for every believer to share and preach the Gospel. So the only way you can be excluded from this is if you are not a believer.
I’m not implying you should become a Billy Graham and hold crusades, unless the Lord tells you. You daily go out into the public via your job, recreational facilities, events, ball games, etc., so you have a field God has given you to tend. I will say in the area of you job, do the job you were hired. You can witness by your work ethic and during your lunch break or off the clock you can witness personally to your co-workers.
After church services, I went out to the mall for some fishing(street evangelism). I purposefully dropped the million dollar bills on the ground. In one instance, I saw a group of college age kids pick up the bill. One guy started reading the tract. He then passed it on to his friends. One bill tract was read by seven kids. Pray for these college kids.
In another situation after I dropped a bill, a high school kid picked the bill up read the gospel message and in disgust threw it back on the ground. It was momentarily picked up by a young grade school kid. Then his dad grabbed it out of his hands. The dad read the back and in a huff he tore the bill up and threw it in the garbage. Now you may say, that was a waste of a tract. However, two men read the gospel message. It cut them in the heart and offended them. Yet, only after time the seeds which were planted will take effect. Over time they will either grow bitter towards the Gospel or it will “bug the tar” out of them til they realize their need for repentance and a Savior. Yet, when they die and stand before the Lord, God will ask them why the rejected the Gospel message. It may have been their only opportunity to know Christ before dying. Just as scripture says:
Romans 1:20 (New Living Translation)
For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature. So they have no excuse for not knowing God.
Do not expect immediate conversion at point of impact. Just like gardening, it takes time to see the results. Even though time is growing short and God will enter time and space. He will say time is up. Everyone will have to give an account of why they did or did not repent and place their faith in Christ.
Share Jesus with others while the clock is ticking and let us bring as many people to Heaven. The more the merrier.

Just got done with a little street witnessing on UT Strip following the Vol. loss. I went up to several college students and told them, “Here is a million bucks to cheer you up after the loss to the Gators.”
See…..handing out tracts does not have to be scary. Just be creative via the leading of the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 24:14 (New International Version)
“And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come.”
I go out to any public place handing out tracts(especially the Million Dollar Bill). Street preaching will begin and end in prayer. I do not go out with a chip on my shoulder, you will be humbled in one way or another if you are arrogant with an officer proclaiming your 1st amendment rights.
Proclaiming the truth must always be done in love.
Be led by the Holy Spirit.
Daily bible devotionals will only make you stronger in your walk with the Lord. God has some important stuff to tell you via his Word.
When you share the Gospel with people, listen to them. If they try to throw you off with questions non-relevant to the Gospel message(example where did Cain get his wife, etc.), be polite and say you will find out and get back with them on the “?”, then go back to the Gospel message. More likely they don’t want an answer to the question, just a deflection of the main purpose of your conversation.
Witnessing Encounters for this week as of 9/19/09 at 4:38pm(eastern).
Walked around the Knoxville Center Mall(East Town mall for those not originally from Knoxville.) Handed out million dollar bills to both mall store employees and high school kids walking at the mall. The kids and store employees enjoy the million dollar bills. The bills are an eye-catcher with the celebrity on the front, yet packed with the Gospel message on the back of the bill.
At the Chic-Fil-A in the mall, I started to give one out to the person taking my drink order and ended up having several of the employees and customers asking for a bill. I told them I wasn’t going to be greedy because there are plenty of free money to go around for everybody.
Chick-Fil-A is a Christian based food business, yet just because someone works at a Christian business or from living in the South everyone says they are a Christian, does not mean they are Christian. It is more of an all inclusive badge in the South.
Like a doctor examining a patient, you can ask questions to the person proclaiming to be a Christian. Always speak the truth in love if the person says they are a Christian, yet under deeper examination they really are not saved.
Tips on where to leave the million dollar bill: Vending Machine.
The bill will feed through the bill slot. The machine will reject the bill and will let the bill hangout of the bill insert slot. Then you walk off and the next person walking up to the machine will get the tract.

This past Thursday was a unique opportunity to give away three million dollar bill tracts.(Michael Jackson on the front.)
Walked into the Krystal on Cumberland(For those living outside the South, it is the redneck version of White Castle.) and saw three older black men playing a serious game of Chess. I told the men whoever won the Chess game would be the million dollar winner. Then I layed two more million dollar bills down and said the looser also get a million. Then I layed a third million dollar bill down(not a Michael Jackson one….I ran out of him. It was the one with Rutherford B. Hayes) and said this is for the person acting as the Judge over the chess proceedings.
At Mall East in Knoxville, I gave one million dollar bill to a person walking out of the mall. The man chuckled as I told him don’t spend it all in one place.
So there are places all around us to share our faith and handout tracts. It is not hard to hand out tracts. Yes, you may have to swallow some pride of what others think about you, especially if you encounter someone you know while handing out tracts.
Matthew 10:32 (New Living Translation)
“Everyone who acknowledges me publicly here on earth, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven.

Here is what happened on Labor Day:
Gave out bottles of water, toothbrushes/toothpaste, and Million Dollar tracts to the homeless. Was able to share my testimony to one homeless gentleman while others listened. Then I drove up to the Mall and gave out tracts to some mall rats(teenagers). Let some of the Million dollar bills hang from the soda pop machines bill dispenser. Stuck some the Million Dollar tracts(the tract goes through the ten commandments.) in some books at a couple of popular bookstore chains. One of the books I stuck the ten commandment million dollar bill was a Wiccan book called, “Witches Ten Commandments.”
Finally I purposefully dropped a bill on the ground on the patio of the Starbucks and someone took the bait. Pray for seeds to be sown.

2 Timothy 4:2 (New International Version)
“Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.”
My group of Christian brothers had the opportunity to handout several hundred of the Million Dollar bills at Boomsday. It was very crowded with over 200,000 people in attendance.
One gentleman claiming to be a Christian told us we should not be street evangelizing and if people want to hear about God they should just come to church. It is sad when people claiming to be Christian telling us not to evangelize. They must have forgotten of all the prophets, disciples and even Jesus preaching in the public. We got warmer receptions from pagans than this gentleman. Most Christians only apply the Great Commission to preachers.
Mark 16:15 (New Living Translation)
“And then he told them, “Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.”
One of the rules of English grammar is to look for the “subject” and “verb”. The subject in this passage is “You”. The “you” is implied.
(YOU), Go into all the world and preach the Good News to everyone.
The “you” is the subject followed by the verb, “go”. This command applies to everyone. We are not to keep Jesus for ourselves, but to give all people the opportunity to know about repentance and faith in Jesus.
Luke 15:7 (New Living Translation)
“In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away!”
Many would say we are ruining their fun at events such as Boomsday or a football game. Yet, I rather if one person’s life is interrupted by another person sharing the Good News and they repent and give their lives to the Lord. The firework display at Boomsday does not compare to the firework display in Heaven when a person bound for Hell repents and gives their complete life to Christ.

It was amazing how many people have made football their “god”. Nothing wrong in enjoying a football game. Unfortunately, many have made it so important in their lives at the expense of making more important than their relationship or lack thereof with Jesus.
As with handing out tracts and many receiving them, you also get rejection. Realize this, they are not rejection you, but the One you represent.
1 Samuel 8:7 (New American Standard Bible)
The LORD said to Samuel, “Listen to the voice of the people in regard to all that they say to you, for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me from being king over them.
Many today in Knoxville cared more about a sport, alcohol, and scantly dressed college women. What do you value more than anything else? If God is not the primary then you have made something else your idol. A violation of the 2nd Commandment, You shall not bow down or make anything to your liking number one in your life.
Many today cared more about the color Orange in Knoxville, than the color red. No, I am not talking about Western Kentucky’s colors. I am talking about the blood of Jesus Christ shed for you and me to cover and wipe away our sins. Jesus’ sacrifice to take our place at Judgment for the evil crimes we have committed. We have broken God’s Law. Unless you realize you are guilty before a Just and Holy God; unless you repent(turn away) from your selfish lifestyles and put your faith(trust in the truth) in Jesus Christ as your pardon; then you will have Hell for an eternal home.
Psalm 9:17 (New King James Version)
The wicked shall be turned into hell,
And all the nations that forget God.
God has made a provision to turn your crime over to His one and only Son, Jesus.
John 3:16 (New International Version)
“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
So please turn away from your lying, stealing, lustful, cursing lifestyle, or whatever filthy thing you have done and surrender your life by placing your trust in the truth of Jesus Christ. Read your Bible and obey it.

First Friday in Downtown Market Square is an event where the art and music lovers convene to display their talent. A group of us from Calvary Chapel and another brother in the Lord went on Friday evening onto Market Square and shared the Gospel message with those we met. We always start in prayer. Never go in our strength and ask God to keep us humble and to speak through us.
We encountered many people. Some were open to listen as we asked them about their spiritual background. Many gave answers such as, “Oh, I’ve been baptized,” “I’m a Catholic/Baptist/Methodist/etc,” “I consider myself a spiritual person.” Yet, being baptized or stating your denomination doesn’t grant you access to Heaven.
The use of different gospel tracts(the good person test, million dollar bill, leaflets, etc) helped open up the conversations into allowing the person to divulge the spiritual or lack thereof background. Many enjoyed the tracts which had a humorous overtones.(The Michael Jackson Million Dollar bill) Breaking the ice with people can disarm any anxiety between the evangelist and the man/woman encountered.
Some of the people we encountered had some Christian background and some had other religious background. The more we found out about an individual, the better we were able to present the Gospel in a way the person could understand.
One lady did call one of the guys ignorant and how we were accosting people out enjoying the evening on the town. This lady did believe it was alright for other people on Market Square to handout other items(business advertisements, food samples, etc), but Christians should not be able to do the same. I guess in her mindset the first amendment to the Constitution does not and should not apply to Christian evangelists.
A group of young people told us the attended Faith Promise. Faith Promise is a Christian Church in Knoxville, TN. They told us they, as individuals, do not believe in sharing their faith in Jesus. They said if people want to hear the Gospel the just need to come to church. Here is the problem with this mindset: In the Bible we see the prophets in the Old Testament openly preached, Jesus openly preached to the crowds, and in the book of Acts the disciples preached to the public. There is an Americanized mindset, which is not biblical, in which the Christian faith should only take place on Sunday morning service by a licensed pastor. Many will not set foot in a church. So in obedience to the Great Commission, We”Go in ALL the World” to preach the Gospel. In other words, God wants us to take the Good News to the public.
We encountered a group of New Age Wicca musicians and dancers. One of the dancers told Pastor Brian she did not like what we were doing and being so narrow minded. The more the drums were beating and the more she danced, the more she was allowing demonic activity to take over her mind and body.
A very upset college-age lady after taking a million dollar bill walked all the way back from Gay Street to Market Square to give us back the bill. She did not like the Gospel message on the tract.
As the night was drawing to a close, we closed in prayer. During the prayer we were interrupted by someone watching us. We asked if they wanted to join us. We asked her and her friends questions, they divulged they were Jehovah Witnesses. Pastor Brian and Tim Weakley were the main speakers while the women would bring up the issues they did and did not believe about God. We avoided getting into a shouting match or going to their level of arrogance. This was a first time during the night, God brought them to us instead of us going to a person or group. We ended on polite terms and did not back down from our beliefs. We gave them props for their cult being so committed to evangelizing their beliefs and how we wished more from our Christian faith would do the same.
We went back to praying without being interrupted and prayed specifically for these women and especially for those which rejected the opportunity to repent of their sins and come to faith in Jesus. It is sad when many in an area known as the “Bible Belt” people trust in their good works, rituals, and attending church on Sunday or a Saturday Mass, as getting into Heaven. They believe in buying off God through these means to get them Heavenly access. This is a slap in the face to God. He sent his only Son, Jesus, to be beaten and killed for the salvation of world. Yet, people would rather trust in their self-righteous religiosity than repent of their sins and put their faith in Jesus.
Isaiah 64:6 (New Living Translation)
6 We are all infected and impure with sin.
When we display our righteous deeds,
they are nothing but filthy rags.
Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall,
and our sins sweep us away like the wind.
I do not go out street preaching to toot off my horn. I honestly want to see many people coming to repentance and faith in Jesus. I know where I have came from and where God had brought me. It would be selfish to keep Jesus to myself. So, I want to share Jesus with as many people. If I am going to spend eternity in Heaven, I want to be able to interact with as many people in Heaven. I love Jesus and I love people. So to really love people, I need to tell them the truth about what occurs in this life, determines what happens after this life ends.
